​​Amazon se​lls some good dash cameras for some good prices, however there are many things they aren't telling you. Allow me to tell you the truth behind dash cameras sold on Amazon.

Yellowing Lens
Most dash cameras sold on Amazon are made in China, and in China they use plastic lenses, and what happens over time the lens turns yellow due to the suns UV rays. Your best bet is to buy a camera made in Korea, they use glass lenses so it will never turn yellow.

No SD Card
When​ you buy a dash camera from Amazon, most times it does not come with an SD Card, so you would go and buy one to go with it. Most people will grab any SD Card, the most popular choice is an SD card compatible with a digital camera or camcorder. A dash camera needs a compatible SD card to function properly or else it won't record properly.

No Hardwire Kit
When​ you buy a dash camera from Amazon, most times it does not come with a hardwire kit, meaning you're either buying one separately, or you are plugging it in through a cigarette lighter port/12 volt port. A lot of wire is exposed during this type of install and parking mode will NOT be enabled.

Damage During Car Accident
Those cheap Amazon dash cameras have a great risk of being damaged when you get into an accident. What happens is, you buy the cheap camera, install it, and when you get into an accident you go to pull the footage and find the camera wasn't recording. The reason for this is the Chinese cameras are made cheap and they use a lot of plastic rather than metal.
